We also have two recently completed luxury rooms in the original Regency Period house, each with four poster beds, spacious bathrooms and fabulous views.With our well stocked bar, spacious restaurant and a variety of lounge areas, you can have that well earned rest. And with free wireless internet access throughout, you can still stay in touch.

Touring Accommodation

Most visitors to the area will know of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, the historic Anglo Saxon county town of Shrewsbury, and the opportunities for walking in the beautiful Shropshire Hills - but Wroxeter offers so much more.

The Hotel is within easy walking distance of the Wroxeter Roman Vineyard, winner of several prestigeous awards and regular host of wine tasting tours throughout the summer months.

Furthermore The Wroxeter Hotel is situated within the ramparts of Viroconium - the fourth largest city in Roman Britain which was founded in 57 AD thrived until 650 AD before disappearing into the mists of time. Guests can visit the ruins of the city bathhouse and forum, and learn about life as a Roman Citizen. The historic Anglo Saxon Church of St Andrews is built with Roman monumental stone and has a font carved from a 2000 year old Roman column.

Some argue that the real King Arthur was based in Wroxeter “the White City in the Woods,” whilst many believe that Shakespeare was employed as a tutor in nearby Eyton’s Tudor mansion. We are a stones throw from the River Severn and day tickets for salmon and course fishing are available from the Hotel.
